George Stultz Memorial Last Chance Meet

• Gates open: 7:45 AM
• Be prepared to time when they call for volunteers.

Entry Fees, please either:

1. Bring your swimmers' entry fees and hand them to Coach Andrea tomorrow, or,
2. Pay for them on GPS.Swimtopia.com team store, or
3. Venmo to the team using the QR code on the PDF attached to this email.

A little history - 

This meet more than just a "last chance" meet to qualify for PJSL championships. This meet is held in honor of George Stultz. The Belvidere swim team had no pool during the 1960s, so they began using the Delaware River for training, and then traveled to other teams' pools for all swim meets. Obviously, it made the swimmers pretty darn tough, since they were used to fighting the river current (permanent drag training!), and when they got to a meet they would have nice, calm water to compete in! However, tragedy struck and a child ended up drowning during a practice. From that point onwards, George devoted himself to gathering the community to build a pool in the area so that a river undercurrent never took another child during a swim practice. He organized the entire project start to finish, and was so proud of not only achieving his goal, but also that the Belvidere Swim Team could actually host meets! Therefore, each summer, the Belvidere swim team holds this meet in honor of him.
