Athlete Swim Meet Sign-Up
Swim Meet Sign-ups are OPEN - Mandatory attendance declaration for everyone, especially those who will miss a swim meet.
Please delcare for all meets early in the season, and definitely one week before the meet.
- Exception - Families with only Developmental Group swimmers do not need to volunteer or attend the meet, nor declare their attendance, until their swimmer starts competing. Coach Drake will let you know individually as your swimmer progresses to that point.
- EVERYONE else MUST declare "Attending" or "Not Attending".
- No need to tell me when you'll attend practice, but I NEED to KNOW your swim meet ATTENDANCE plans. This, more than anything else in our scheduling, is the TOP PRIORITY.
- Although it is generally expected that swimmers will attend all meets, we completely understand that families go on vacation or have other family obligations that require swimmers miss a meet, so no worries. For our long time swim families, of course, it's great to take vacation in August!! :) HaHa
Attendance Declaration Instructions
- On GPS.Swimtopia.com, go to "Meets/Events".
- Click on "Meet Entry" and/or "Job Signup" to the right.
- Click on "Edit" at the bottom.
- Choose "Attending" or "Not Attending".
- Leave notes if arriving late or leaving early, or requesting an event. Occasionally, I can work in an individual event request to the team line-up, but please know that is not the priority for dual meets and can only be worked in every now and then.
- PARENTS and ONLY parents' scheudling priorities determine if swimmers need to leave early or arrive late. For example, a parent works the late shift at their job, and therefore a swimmer needs to leave the meet by 7:30 pm, so they leave a note when clicking "Attending", is totally acceptable. Swimmers NEVER make that determination. They are part of the team and are absolutely exptected to stay until the end of the swim meet and stay with the team.
- Volunteer Jobs - Each competition group family only needs to work two dual meets. Swim meets will not run without 20-30 volunteers signed up each time. More than the $75 work bond, if families do not volunteer to help run meets, swimmers may not be allowed to compete. AGAIN, meets CANNOT run without enough volunteers to make it run. This is not like when I was a soccer coach, I just needed one person to hold a flag. In swim meets we need 20+ volunteers at each meet to even make it run at a basic level. It is a community effort.
Also, don't forget to download our Swimtopia mobile app to get updated info before, during, and post meet. :)
