Attached are the initial George Stultz Memorial Meet (Last Chance Meet) entries and fees.

Please review since some swimmers marked they were attending but left their event choices blank. As a result, I placed them in events I either knew were their personal goals or in which they were the closest to qualifying for championships. If you want to make a change, please do so in Swimtopia, email me, or text me by 12:45 pm today.

A little history:

The Belvidere swim team had no pool during the 1960s, so they used the Delaware River for training and then traveled to other teams' pools for all swim meets. Obviously, it made their swimmers pretty darn tough since they were used to fighting the river current (permanent drag training!)! However, tragedy struck and a child drowned during a swim practice. From that point onwards, George Stultz devoted himself to galvanizing the community to build a pool in Belvidere so that a river undercurrent never took another child's life during a swim practice again. He organized the entire project start to finish, and was so proud of not only achieving his goal, but also that the Belvidere Swim Team could actually host meets! Therefore, each summer, the Belvidere Swim Team holds this meet in honor of him.

By the way, the pool we swam in on Wednesday is the same pool they built in the late 60s. Lopatcong (closed currently, but rebuilding by 2027) and Palmer townships (Two Rivers, but completely refurbished and redesigned) also built pools around the same time with almost the same design, yet Belvidere's pool is the only original one left standing. Over the years they have really taken care of and invested in it. :)
