Good afternoon,

GPS swim practice is canceled today, Wednesday, June 7th, 2023.

I was out earlier this morning, and the sky in the local area here seems to have gotten an even darker shade of yellow since then. So, it may be going deeper into the red zone for air quality. Although we are currently indoors for practice, we made the decision on the principle of necessary travel outdoors only, in order to limit exposure.  

However, this is also a good time to review our other weather related policies:

In the event of rain & chilly temperatures, we still practice. 

• The coaches' judgement will preside, but don't worry, we're not crazy. If it's too cold for extended outdoor practice we will do dry land (limited swimming), if it is chilly and raining, we may have swimming videos and goal setting sessions prepared in the locker rooms. If it's warm and raining, we're still in the pool (only the coaches suffer then). 
• Less frequently than above, but on occasion, we may actually move back into the Phillipsburg Elementary School pool for the day, but we will let families know ahead of time. So, the default is still Walter's Park when we start outdoors.

We only cancel for thunder and lightning, and then only if it is on-going throughout the practice. For meets, our policy is to ONLY cancel while on deck at the meet.

Look at this website, Swimtopia Mobile App Alert, and email for updates; we often get part of the practice in.

ALWAYS show up for meets though, we rarely cancel, and most often just wait for the storm to pass.
