This is sort of like a "last chance" meet to qualify for championships. There are "no faster than" qualifying times, so if a swimmer qualified for championships in an event, they won't be eligible for this meet in that event. Once they competed in three dual meets, when swimmers sign up, the events they qualify for will be available to check. There are no relays, and swimmers choose all the events they want to swim. In this way, they can focus on achieving a best time at the end of the season, or qualifying for championships.

However, this meet is more than just a "last chance". This meet is held in honor of George Stultz. The Belvidere swim team had no pool during the 1960s, so they began using the Delaware River for training, and they traveled to other teams' pools for all swim meets. Obviously, it made their swimmers pretty darn tough though, since they were used to fighting the river current (permanent drag training!), and when they got to a meet they would have nice, calm water to compete in! However, tragedy struck and a child ended up drowning during a practice. From that point onwards, George devoted himself to gathering the community to build a pool in the area so that a river undercurrent never took another child's life during a swim practice. He organized the entire project start to finish, and was so proud of not only achieving his goal, but also that the Belvidere Swim Team could actually host meets! Therefore, each summer, the Belvidere swim team holds this meet in honor of him.

    See you on deck,

    Coach Drake
